Chevrolet Silverado PPV, The New American Police Pick-up

No one probably beats the Americans in terms of patriotic sentiment. And the country's brands fight to offer their vehicles to the security forces. This Chevrolet Silverado PPV becomes the new American police pick-up.

It's the first time Chevrolet has offered the Silverado to law enforcement. Throughout history, various models of the brand have served the body, such as the Caprice, the Impala or the Tahoe, but never the famous pick-up.

The acronym PPV refers to Police Pursuit Vehicle, a declaration of intent about the functions that the Chevrolet Silverado will perform.

The police Silverado has received some modifications. It is based on the Short Bed Crew Cab model, but has been fitted with a Z71 package that improves suspension, as well as an underbody skid plate and locking differential.

Likewise, Chevrolet has incorporated a five-centimeter lift that allows it to reach a ground clearance of 29 centimeters, which allows it to increase the angle of attack up to 25.9 centimeters.

Mechanically, the Silverado PPV is powered by a 5.3-liter V8 engine that produces 355 hp and 520 Nm of torque, distributed between all four wheels, through a ten-speed automatic gearbox.

It includes Tahoe PPV wheels wrapped in specific off-road tires for high-speed driving, Brembo brakes and a towing capacity of 4,300 kilos.

The Chevrolet Silverado PPV includes a series of added details to become a police vehicle, such as the siren and emergency lights, an interior and exterior lighting system, LED lights or Chevy Silverado 1500 custom led headlights and it dispenses with the front center seat.

Another section that has been specially taken care of is security. Thus, the police Silverado has the Chevrolet Safety Assist system with all the ADAS systems that equip the brand's models.

All the modifications made have followed the instructions of the members of the police and the team of engineers of the North American company.

Land Rover Defender, Mercedes G-Class and Jeep Wrangler in an off-road Battle

Carwow's companions make some of the most outstanding acceleration races in the world, bringing together on the asphalt some of the greatest beasts in the automotive world today. However, when they have a trio of Land Rover Defender, Mercedes G-Class and Jeep Wrangler at their disposal, it's just as well to go off the road.

And boy, have they done it, because they have faced the trio in an off-road battle and with various tests, in which they have been earning points to show which is the best.

The first, how could it be otherwise, is a drag race, although not the usual quarter mile. This is a drag race up a hill, over mud and over a short distance. Still remember the Land Rover Defender Led Headlights for old version? It is very cheap and worth to upgrade your vehicle.

The second seeks to check how slow they can go down a slope, something for which Land Rover and Jeep use their descent assistants, but which in the Mercedes must be done manually. The control achieved by the first two is striking.

The third is a fast lap of a small bumpy track, the fourth is a climb up a slope with slippery terrain, the fifth is a route with lateral slopes... the video is not wasted and it is interesting to see the performance of the three participants in all the situations.

As for the Honda Gold Wing F6B 40th Anniversary, a slightly lower and more naked Bagger-style version -with its trimmed fairing- that originally appeared in 2013, it also incorporates the commemorative logos and stands out for the exclusive matt silver paint finish. In this case there are more novelties besides the purely aesthetic ones, and cruise control and reverse gear are added as standard equipment.

2013 Jeep Wrangler JK Gets New Interiors

Present at the Paris Motor Show and marketed in France at the end of the year, the 2013 Jeep Wrangler hardly evolves aesthetically. This is not surprising since it pleases a lot. In fact, it is in the cabin that the 2013 model receives many changes.

It must be recognized that from a design point of view, the Wrangler is very successful, and has a personality of its own. As a result, the designers of the brand refrained from touching it. The only real changes are new rims and dual washer nozzles. Inside, the changes are much more significant. The seats have been redesigned to offer more comfort and lateral support.

The Wrangler also has a new hi-fi system, provided by Alpine (a very reputable brand in the field of car radio). It is never late to upgrade your Jeep Wrangler led headlights, it will increase a lot of driving experience. The Wrangler also has a tire pressure monitoring system and an electrochromic interior rearview mirror with integrated reading lights. Finally, note that 6 new body colors will be in the catalog. For the moment, the prices have not been revealed, but the Mondial de Paris in a few weeks, will allow to know more.

New Husqvarna 701 2020 The Technological Update for This Enduro Queen

The new Husqvarna 701 2020 has been presented at the EICMA 2019 in Milan and arrives with different novelties that mainly affect the technological section and the positioning of the range, with the arrival of the new Husqvarna 701 LR aimed at greater efficiency in off-road . A motorcycle that has very high limits and with which to have a good time hitting jumps and doing the goat. How we like it!

The first thing to make clear is that the chassis and engine of the Husqvarna 701 do not receive relevant changes. It maintains the 692 cubic centimeter single-cylinder engine with a maximum power of 75 hp. The steel trellis chassis, the suspension signed by WP or the Brembo brakes are also unchanged. So what's new?

Without a doubt, the main objective of the new Husqvarna 701 2020 is to update the technological elements focused on greater driving pleasure and, especially, greater safety. How about try Husqvarna led headlight for your motorcycle? It is a motorcycle that will be on the market for five years in 2020 and technology has advanced a lot in this type, helping to improve safety and dynamic behavior.

For example, one of the great novelties is the incorporation of a new ABS system signed by Bosch and that is capable of analyzing the inclination of the motorcycle at the moment of braking to act in one way or another. It is the most of the most in ABS technology and a very attractive safety element for those who are opting for an enduro bike like this one.

From now on Husqvarna 701 users will be able to switch between the different maps while the engine is running, something that previously could only be done while stationary. It also has a new traction control or the Easy Shift system, to be able to go up or down without having to touch the clutch.

Possibly the most remarkable novelty is the arrival of the Husqvarna 701 Enduro LR, a version even more focused on off-road adventures and whose main novelty lies in the installation of a second fuel tank, with an extra 12 liters, thanks to which the autonomy can reach 500 km. In addition, the user will be able to select the tank that comes into action in order to balance the distribution of fuel and, therefore, of the weight.

In addition, this new Husqvarna 701 LR has a specific decoration, with a clear country style and that will surely delight fans of the brand and lovers of the most classic trail and enduro motorcycles.

Of course, the Husqvarna 701 Enduro and the 701 Supermoto remain in the range, the latter with road tires, stronger front brakes, a specific suspension set-up and a special livery.

There is no doubt that if you are a fan of enduro and enjoy riding a motorcycle far from civilization, the new Husqvarna 701 LR will appeal to you a lot. The range is updated, improving above all in terms of safety, something that should always be welcomed.

Bowler Bulldog takes on Jimny and Wrangler Rubicon in a Quirky Drag Race

We've seen so many drag races by now that making one more interesting requires an extra twist. Carwow's teammates are quite good at it, as this very peculiar drag race shows, not so much because of the vehicles that participate (also) but because one of them, while his rivals run on the asphalt, does it through the middle of the field : the Bowler Bulldog.

At his side, although on firm and careful asphalt, he faces the fashionable Suzuki Jimny and the Jeep Wrangler in its Rubicon variant. Let's take a look at the participants:

Jeep Wrangler Rubicon: 2.0 tetracylindrical gasoline engine with 272 hp and 400 Nm of maximum torque to move its 1987 kilos of weight. There are lots of modification parts for Jeep Wrangler offroad, one of them can be 9 inch Jeep jl headlights, so popular offroad accessories.

Bowler Bulldog: supercharged 5.0 V8 engine with 550 hp and 770 Nm with a total weight of 1,800 kilos

Suzuki Jimny: 1.5 terracilindrico gasoline engine with 102 hp and 130 Nm, being the lightest with a weight of 1,135 kilos

The lineup seems diverse and quite disparate, with the Suzuki looking somewhat out of place. However, the little 4x4 is loved by all, it is never too much and, according to the guys at Carwow, it is there to see if it is capable of matching the Bowler on asphalt that mounts 'all-terrain' tires, not specific ones for off-road driving. road, so its traction capacity could be reduced.

We tested the Suzuki Jimny 2918: unique in its kind

The competition is based on three tests: a standing start, a pitched run starting at 30 mph and braking from 70 mph, always with the Bowler running on the grass. Will that handicap be enough to make up for the power difference?

Test BMW F800GS Motorcycle for What You Want to Know

On this occasion and before the 2016 update arrives, we tested the BMW F800 GS, a manageable and versatile motorcycle that you can ask (almost) what you want. In addition, the brand limits it to you for free for the A2.

Those who have a BMW GS ("a GS", as they say, without further ado) usually resort to these two acronyms -GS- to define their motorcycle, because for those who know about this, this denomination almost supposes their own brand. As we know the 2008 to 2018 BMW f800gs stock headlight can be upgraded to same BMW f800gs led headlights which is Emark approved. But why have we tested the BMW F800 GS now?

Because it is a manageable and versatile motorcycle to which you can ask (almost) whatever you want. The top of the range is the BMW R 1200 GS, with the new air- and liquid-cooled boxer engine, but if you want to jump from your 125 cc scooter to a real trail bike, limitable free of charge to the A2 license, at BMW you have other very recommended for your debut on the asphalt and on the roads: the 650 cc, 700 cc and 800 cc GS.

We have tested this 800 for being an intermediate point, and one of the best combinations on the market between performance, comfort, autonomy and versatility, which is what is sought in a mid-range trail bike -now so fashionable-. It is not cheap (from 11,200 euros), although it is highly recommended. The causes?

Unless your feet do not reach the ground even with the lowered configuration -up to 820mm-, this bike is quite comfortable because you have an upright position and quite high relative to traffic, in addition to having some protection against the wind, although here the screen is not adjustable and in this unit we did not have protections on the fists. Although all BMW GS seems like a real horse, the dimensions of this one will allow you to move with agility everywhere, from urban traffic to motorways -its 85 CV perform very well in any gear-, going through what distinguishes a real trail of road sports that resemble them: their off-road qualities.

I climb carefully on top of this machine knowing that, although the sky is completely clear in this photo session, the forecast is for rain. And because of the characteristics of this motorcycle, you feel a little calmer, because, making a car simile, the BMW F800 GS is more of an off-roader than an SUV. And if the standard equipment (ABS, spoked wheel...) seems little to you, you can order the Comfort packages -515 euros- (trip computer, heated grips, suitcase support, center stand) and Dynamic (traction control ASC, off-road driving mode and electronic suspension adjustment ESA).

I start and engage gears smoothly. The elevated position is always an incentive to move through the city traffic at rush hour, because you have more room for anticipation. Before leaving, I take the opportunity to do some shopping in the center and take advantage of the suitcase that this test unit comes with. On these bikes, panniers are very useful. This rigid BMW 'grows' a few cm and is easy to put on and take off without tools!

Already on the road, with the 'road' mode on the panel display, I pick up speed. A lot. Its 'country' lines deceive, because they do not detract from poise or comfort. Only the seat is not very ergonomic and slips a bit with certain pant covers when driving in the rain. The good thing is that if you have a passenger or a lot of cargo, you can quickly adjust the stiffness of the rear suspension and the rebound of the rear suspension.

And speaking of everything a bit: the sky begins to close and the last hours of the afternoon become, luminously speaking, a pitch-black night. I slow down to the point of common sense, but the feeling of safety is always positive: the mixed wheels of this bike give good grip on slippery surfaces on and off the asphalt. And its narrowness -especially in the front- is also a plus in this section. Off public roads, I have exceeded 200 km/h and the previous train was not as stable as on a purely sports bike, but at legal speeds, it more than meets the mark and you don't have the feeling of losing a wheel even with side wind.

It's on rough trails and wades that you really appreciate the qualities of this highly manageable machine. You have to get used to standing up in the saddle, putting the front wheel where it belongs, throttle through the sand while feeling the gentle skid front and rear (even if you have not driven in those circumstances, if you have seen a 'dirt race track', you will know what I mean, saving all the distances).

There are no limits as close as on other bikes and you do want to continue doing kilometers (and even more so when you have a 16-liter tank and on the road I have managed not to go from 5.5 liters to 100 km). After driving more than 30 thousand kilometers, you are recommended to upgrade your motorcycle with the BMW f800gs led headlight because the halogen light becomes dark.

Bad weather arrives and it is not the same to drive a scooter than a motorcycle with which you can move with guarantees on all types of terrain. After a week of almost 1,000 km between daily commutes and dry, wet and muddy routes, this versatile GS leaves you with a wide smile... and you want to squeeze it even more.

If the price is not the first thing, for 'two kilos' you will have a very reasonable motorcycle, versatile, with contained consumption... and with which you will never get bored. And beware, because in the last Milan Motor Show, the brand has unveiled the BMW F800 GS 2016, so if you are interested in this GS, you will have to be very attentive to the promotions in the remainder of 2015 and early 2016 before the new one comes on the market.
